SEMINAR DESCRIPTION

Success through perseverance
This motivational session encourages students to develop perseverance, which is a fundamental and essential quality for success and achieving their goals. Indeed, student life is not just about making friendly and academic decisions; for some, it also involves academic, social, family, and personal difficulties that can be overcome through perseverance. But how does perseverance develop?

Built internally for success
Therapy for depression is incomplete if it is limited to improving the individual's external environment without reconfiguring their internal condition. Similarly, the fight against school dropout is incomplete if it consists simply of introducing new extracurricular activities for the student without changing their internal reasoning. Depressed individuals and students who drop out have one thing in common: negative thinking, which must be the main target of any strategy. Thus, this motivational session builds the student's internal confidence while encouraging them to adopt optimistic thoughts for success.

Problem - solving strategies for mathematics & science

This seminar introduces students to a problem-solving method that will enable them to maximize their academic performance in mathematics and science. This methodology, developed by Patrick Mayard during his years teaching mathematics, physics, and chemistry, was presented at the 52nd annual conference of the Association pour l’Enseignement de la Science & de la Technologie du Québec (Quebec Association for Science and Technology Education), held at the Collège Notre-Dame-de-Foy campus. In this seminar, students discover a simple and effective four-step problem-solving process. They then immediately learn how to apply this methodology to their mathematics and science classes.
